The 'Human Fish' or ‘Človeška Ribica’ in Slovene, ('olm' or 'proteus' in English) is a cave-dwelling amphibian native to Slovenia.
A symbol of the country, these elusive animals were once thought to be baby dragons and are much-loved by Slovenes who would never eat them.
This design emulates a well-known Slovenian brand of tinned fish and states that the Human Fish come in pure ‘bučno olje’ - pumpkinseed oil - a very popular Slovenian product. Thus this design is a completely Slovene-flavoured look.
